Project and Change Management

Do you need an experienced project manager to help you plan your project or deliver transformational change? If yes, I can help either by directly writing your project plan or by up-skilling your staff to implement change projects or effectively commission services. Subject to availability, I can also act as a Programme Director overseeing all aspects of your transformational change. Check out my experience below.

Innovation and Change Management

A highly qualified PRINCE2 trained project manager, I have led a large number of innovative and transformational change projects. For example, I have:

  • Established a joint commissioning unit and led the transformation of a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. This led to quantifiable improvements in service delivery and £3.5 million in savings.
  • Developed an innovative change programme for a Children’s Services Directorate to deliver over £11million of savings over a three-year period.
  • Produced and overseen the implementation of a new strategic commissioning framework for Worcestershire’s Children’s Centres. This delivered significant savings and was subsequently promoted as national best practice by the then Department for Children, Schools and Families.
  • Planned and managed all aspects of a major school reorganisation to close 45 first, middle and high schools and to open 30 new primary and secondary schools.
  • Led the first national merger of community safety partnerships. The systems and processes that I established were included as best practice in Home Office guidance.

Project and Programme Management

I have considerable experience and skills as both a project and programme manager and have managed formal PMOs in both local authority and health environments. This includes:

  • Effective programme planning with realistic and achievable actions and SMART targets;
  • Working collaboratively with managers across a wide portfolio of services to identify new ways of working, major savings and ‘quick wins’ without compromising front-line delivery;
  • Identifying potential risks and working with service specialists to develop appropriate mitigating actions;
  • Monitoring programmes and ensuring all targets are met, including those delegated to individual project leads;
  • Representing projects at appropriate local, regional and national forums and meetings;
  • Managing stakeholder relationships and leading community engagement events, including those in deprived communities.
